How to Choose Product Based on Storm Conditions

Winter storms take on a variety of different forms. Whether it’s ice storms, thick powder, slush, blinding blizzards, or a mix of conditions, our goal must be the same...clear roads fast. However, not all deicers are effective in all storm scenarios. Let’s talk about how to choose a road treatment product based on storm conditions.

Granular Deicers: What Makes Ice Slicer® Unique

EnviroTech is proud to offer Ice Slicer®; a deicer treatment with a special geological history that has given it unique chemical and physical properties that prove not all salt is created equal. Here we will learn more about what makes Ice Slicer® a cut above other salts.

What Are Complex Chlorides And Why Do They Matter?

“Salt is salt” is a common misconception which has permeated the deicing industry for years. In reality, there are several chemical and physical properties that distinguish different salts from each other. Let’s learn about a specific type of deicer containing complex chlorides and why that matters for road safety, infrastructure, and the environment.

Ice Slicer: How Does it Compare to The Competition?

Granular deicer, Ice Slicer®, has increased power to break the bond of snow and ice from various surfaces compared to traditional deicing solutions. Ice Slicer is a homogenous (non-blended) solution primarily composed of four complex chlorides and  50+ trace minerals. Although the initial price of Ice Slicer might be higher than traditional solutions, the superior performance decreases overall costs because of lower application rates and reduced manpower. Additionally, the natural corrosion-inhibitors crystallized within each granule prevents excess damage to machinery, which decreases the overall cost of ownership.

Don't just take our word for it. Let's look at study results comparing Ice Slicer's performance to white salt, solar salt, and sand.

Salt Treatment Liquid Leaching Study

Treating or pre-wetting salt stockpiles has many advantages such as ensuring salt flow for stockpile movement and salt application, as well as reducing material loss due to bounce and scatter during application.  Salt treatment can also improve melting capacity, melting time and melting. However, if a substandard liquid treatment is used to pre-wet a salt stockpile, leaching can prevent these advantages from being realized.
