Professional Background

Q: What is your role at EnviroTech Services, and how long have you been with us?
Dan joined EnviroTech in 2012 after his father-in-law introduced him to the company. Over the years, he has taken on various roles and responsibilities, and now oversees both Inside Sales and the Commercial center in Denver. He leads a dynamic team, including House Account Managers Kayla and Rodney, while managing customer relationships and spearheading projects.

Q: What does a typical day look like in your job?
Dan’s day-to-day is as diverse as his role. He focuses on growing purchasing from existing customers, reconnecting with lapsed customers, and training the team on systems like IFS and our CRM (Customer relationship management). His work often involves collaborating with Account Managers, leveraging CRM data, and developing sales resources like the comprehensive Sales Playbook—a project he’s especially proud of.

Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
I really enjoy the multi-faceted role I have here. I get energy from helping others and solving problems.

Q: Can you share a significant achievement or project you're particularly proud of?
The sales playbook I worked on is something I’m really proud of. About eight years ago, I worked on something similar, but it didn’t take off. This one has been in the making for nine months, and it’s received more support, allowing me to create and hold trainings. It’s been great to teach existing account managers to standardize and set guidelines for onboarding new account managers.

Q: What’s your favorite part about working at EnviroTech Services?
I love the encouragement to innovate and educate myself and others. It’s one of the reasons I’ve thrived here. I have a Bachelor’s in History with a focus on American and European military history, and a Bachelor’s in Marketing.

Personal Insights

Q: What’s something your coworkers might not know about you?
I have a photographic memory. It’s both good and bad—I’m not sure if it’s always a blessing! But I learned IFS really quickly, and I can recall specific customer orders.

Q: What motivates you to do your best work every day?
I’m motivated by the energy I get from helping others, teaching about our products, and working on internal projects. The company also listens to feedback and tries to act on it, which keeps me engaged.

Q: Who has been a mentor or inspiration in your career, and why?
Tim Pike has been the biggest influence on me. We still meet once a month. He helps me understand the business better at a deeper level. I really like processes, and Tim’s mentorship has helped me understand my impact on others and how interconnected everything is.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you or a unique talent you have?
I have a photographic memory. I’ve been able to remember specific customer orders and other details, and it helped me pick up IFS in about a month.

Company Culture

Q: How would you describe the company culture in one word (or a few words)?
“Moving forward together.” The company’s goal is to keep everyone moving forward. There are opportunities to move up and not stay stagnant, which is something I value.

Q: What’s your favorite memory or experience at EnviroTech Services so far?
One of my favorite memories was a company week about a decade ago when Sue Lindquist spoke. She shared her failures and the lessons they taught her, and I’ve never forgotten it. She also shared how she helped others win gold medals, which was incredibly inspiring.

Q: What do you think makes EnviroTech Services stand out as a workplace?
I really appreciate how we pursue out-of-the-box thinking and respect everyone’s opinions. That’s something I’ve never experienced at another workplace, and it sets EnviroTech apart. Chris Delaney and his bots are a great example of this.

Work-Life Balance

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy fly fishing, reading, and I’m a big movie buff. I also spend a lot of time with my family. I coach my kids’ sports sometimes and volunteer on the safety commission at church. I also enjoy playing D&D with friends.

Q: Do you have a favorite hobby or activity outside of work?
As mentioned, I love fly fishing, reading, and watching movies. I spend a lot of time with my family and enjoy coaching my kids in sports.

Q: How do you like to unwind after a busy day?
My go-to routine to unwind is going home to see my family and dogs. I make it a point to leave work at the door.

Engagement and Advice

Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and who gave it to you?
In high school, one of my football coaches and math teachers told me to listen when people give me negative feedback. Whether I think they’re right or wrong, I should listen and not let my pride get in the way.

Q: What advice would you give to someone starting out in your field?
Don’t be afraid to annoy people. Spend time with the different experts in the company. It’s the best way to learn and grow.

Q: If you could describe your job in three emojis, what would they be?
😁 🤔 😄

Future Outlook

Q: What excites you most about the future at EnviroTech Services?
The company’s rapid growth excites me because it gives us the opportunity to evaluate what we’re doing and figure out how we can innovate with a bigger network of resources and people.

Q: What are you looking forward to in your career development?
Since my role as Inside Sales Manager is fairly new to me, I’m excited by the challenges ahead. I want to grow the business and help Kayla and Rodney develop so they can succeed me. I don’t want to limit their potential the way I’ve experienced with previous managers, and I feel like I succeed when they succeed.
